January Reading
by Morgan on January 4, 2011
Lord of Misrule, Jaimy Gordon
As I mentioned, I’m going to attempt a super slow, close read of the National Book Award winner, mostly because I want to love Jaimy Gordon as much as Silverblatt does. I want to love her so hard I almost barf all over myself when I talk about her.
Purchased (lamentably) at Barnes and Noble.
The Madonnas of Echo Park, Brando Skyhorse
Kindle version, Christmas gift.
Super Sad True Tove Story, Gary Shteyngart
I cannot believe I haven’t read this yet. What the hell was I doing last year?
Kindle version, Christmas gift.
Long, Last, Happy, Barry Hannah
Will purchase from Book Soup.
Everything Here Is The Best Thing Ever, Justin Taylor
Kindle version, Christmas gift.
Gryphon: New and Selected Stories, Charles Baxter
Released next Tuesday. The Millions is really excited about this one.

I really have to restrain myself here (I’ll save Colm Toibin’s The Empty Family for February) but I’m sticking to six because I want to honor my slow read mission.
